Discrepancies in YouTube Views With Google Ads Explained

Recently Google revealed that YouTube generated nearly $15 billion in ad revenue. That’s a huge amount when we even think about it. Millions of users are using Google Ads for creating Search, Display, Video and other types of campaigns. But what about the results? Are we getting the results that Google is charging us for? Today, we are going to cover an important topic about what Google shows us under Google Ads and the ultimate results we see on the video.

YouTube has never made it public how it counts a valid View and it’s still a mystery. While everyone has their own idea and most of them are valid to a certain point. What we have ascertained is, YouTube counts only unique Views and Views which are coming from the same computer or the same IP, are considered to be Bot Views and are immediately removed.

Many try to refresh the video multiple times to increase the View count, but even if it grows the View count, YouTube Algorithm will detect it as spam views and delete it after a couple of days.

This is very confusing because when Google Ads shows “Views” as a performance/delivery indicator, the common thought is, the Views are the same as Views on a YouTube video.

Why has this recent update from YouTube brought enormous problems for new YouTubers?

When we first noticed this, we got in touch with Google Ads Support. We told them the issue we faced and we were lucky the first time when the amount equal to the difference in Views were refunded as credit in Google Ads.

The second time when we approached Google Ads support, they said the discrepancy is natural only and this can and will happen and they can’t refund or credit any amount.

As of now, there is no specific solution to this. We have tried our best to explain this discrepancy and how confusing it has been for several users. If you have faced this issue, please let us know your thoughts on this via comments/replies.
