Create an environment of inspiration.

We live in a world where we're constantly tossed, tumbled and pulled by the various needs presented to us daily. You may read this as a student and have assignments, projects or term papers due. Or you are a freelancer, and you have clients breathing down your neck, or you may even be an employee reading this, and your boss is just a lot to handle now. You're probably thinking of your next rent or pending bills that must be sorted.

We have a lot of things fighting for our attention, and honestly, it can get overwhelming, especially for people who struggle with balancing the various aspects of their lives.

It's so easy to get lost in the rhythm of this never-ending cycle and meet every demand that life throws at you, and somehow along the line, you lose yourself in the process. Then you wonder if you'll ever achieve the dreams, passions and goals that were important to you at a particular stage in your life.

And now, you're heading in a different direction than you desire. That's such a bum feeling.

Does this seem like you? If it does, you're not alone. I totally get that feeling. I am an architecture student and don't even get the chance to catch a breather sometimes. I have assignments, projects and term papers hitting me from every corner almost every day. I'm in my final year, for goodness sake. I should be resting and focusing on just a few simple things. Living the life. Well, life doesn't work that way.

For the longest time, I got lost in the seemingly never-ending cycle of being a student, and I didn't have the time to do what I love: writing, for instance.

I am one to focus my energy on a few things at a time, and unfortunately, my blog had to suffer for it. I haven't been as consistent as I'd like, and ugh! It messes with my mind that people are waiting on me and haven't delivered well enough. Hey! I'm being vulnerable here.

I could go on and on, but I want to point out a few things I've learned in the past few weeks, and I hope that they'd be helpful to you. Enjoy the read!

We live in an environment filled with many online and physical people, each with their way of thinking and living. The environment we find ourselves in has a way of influencing us for good or bad. Unfortunately, your environment doesn't need your permission to influence you. Exposure to anything really can affect you positively or negatively.

The good news is that you can control your environment, what you see, hear, feel, smell or taste; it's up to you. You need to be intentional about your "living", and intentional living means taking charge of your environment.

You need to constantly ask yourself questions like "What am I constantly seeing?", "Who am I listening to?", "Who am I surrounded with (online and physically)?" and even more questions you need to ask and answer.

What influences you has to be aligned with your desired outcome to become a better you. And of course, this is not from a selfish point of view because becoming a better "you" means the society gets to experience better people because, guess what? You're part of the "environment", too.

When it comes to accomplishing your goals, here's one way the environment plays a significant part. You need to focus on what you desire to see them play out in your life. For instance, if I want a healthy eating pattern, I have to surround myself with things or people, both online and physically, that encourage eating healthy, and of course, this isn't the only way, but it can cause a significant mind shift.

I read a line in a book that hit me deeply: "You're only going to be as good as the people you surround yourself with". Yo! This hit deep, and it got me thinking, and I want you to think on this, too, deeply if you care to.

To create an inspiring environment is to expose your mind to limitless possibilities. What do you see? Create creative ways to surround yourself with images of things that motivate and inspire you. You can make mood or vision boards (physical or digital ones) and place them where you'd see them often.

However, when you're not given a choice to live in a desired environment, you still get to choose what you let in. Honestly, it's a crazy world out there. You can't control what happens around you, but you can control the things you let in that would ultimately influence you.

There you have it! A summary of some of my significant findings these past few weeks. I hope they have a positive influence on your life. You know, because this is technically part of your environment too.

~Love, Alex🤍🔆
