How Queen Victoria Contributed to the Start of World War I

Queen Victoria ascended to the throne in 1837 and her reign lasted for 63 years, until her death in 1901. She is widely regarded as one of the most significant monarchs in British history. During her reign, Britain underwent significant changes, including the Industrial Revolution and the expansion of the British Empire. Queen Victoria’s reign also saw significant changes in foreign policy, including the establishment of alliances with other European powers.

World War I was, in a sense, a family dispute among Victoria’s grandchildren. Victoria’s matchmaking ended up resulting divisions and conflicts throughout Europe. The conflict also resulted in the end of several monarchies in Europe.
