For Lack of Better Words

Nothing.

I kept waiting to get inspired to write today but the universe failed me. Or maybe I failed myself by not looking hard enough. But you see I’m a believer that “inspiration” and “hard” shouldn’t be in the same sentence. It should come easily.

Most times, I get ideas to write from anywhere and anything; quotes, poems or song lyrics but today, I didn’t listen to songs that will make me think. I listened to Megan Thee Stallion’s entire discography. I mean, I love the Hot Girl, she makes me want to be a bad bitch and be sexually liberated but there’s only so much inspiration one can get from her songs. It’s not impossible but it’s low.

However, that’s not why we are here today. I’m here today to say I don’t know what to write. It’s not like I’m having a mental block — -a mental block is not being able to bring the words out. I am bringing the words but I don’t know exactly what to write about.

Normally, I would have beaten myself up and looked in my notes for some draft I’ve left to rot but I’ll rather not. I mean, there are days like this when you try so hard to get some words out, but there are some words that you can’t force no matter how hard you try.

I usually say I don’t think anyone should run out of things to write or talk about but I’m learning that it’s okay to run out of things to say. Today is that day for me but it’s not the end. Tomorrow, the sun will rise and we will try again.
