COVID SURVIVORS PLASMA 19 RELIABLE AND SAFE TREATMENT?

In order to combat the spread of the new coronavirus, and to find an adequate treatment, health specialists conducted several studies in which they concluded that the plasma of patients who recovered from COVID19 could be transfused to people who are still sick, to strengthen the immune system and help it fight the virus. A great discovery, no doubt carrying a ray of hope. But at what cost ! Because the FDI Consumer believes, this glimmer of hope does not always guarantee good news.

Because, patients who receive blood products, especially those containing plasma, are at risk of acute post-transfusion respiratory syndrome, also call TRALI. This syndrome can result in death if it is not identified and treated properly. TRALI occurs when antibodies in the donor’s blood react with the recipient’s white blood cells and modify the lung tissue so that it becomes leaky. Most of the donors causing these lesions are mothers of more than two children or people who have had multiple transfusions. Symptoms include fever, difficulty breathing, and a drop in blood pressure. So there is reason to wonder: in fighting against the coronavirus, does not the transfused plasma also fight against the patient’s life?
Their research is very appreciable but the fact remains that science has not yet uncovered all the secrets.
