Day 11 of 5 Min Writing Challenge

I need some encouragement after a long week, so I’m mediating on the first thing I flipped open to in the Bible (this is how PD would encourage people to discern God’s will btw). Titus 1:1–3 says, “Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness, in hope of eternal life, which God, who never lies, promised before the ages began and at the proper time manifested in his word through the preaching with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Savior.”

Who did Paul see himself as? A slave. The opposite of who I see myself as (a celebrity emperor).

For whose sake did Paul live? For Christ as King first. And for other people’s faith. How often do we consider all our actions as girding up other people’s faith?

God’s elect. Another reminder that we had nothing to do with being forgiven of our sins and adopted into God’s family.

What is our hope? Eternal life. But how do I know Eternal life is a real thing? “God, who never lies, promised…” If God has never lied, he’s not going to step out of character just to mess with me. He can not lie. He has said those who trust in Jesus will live forever; I believe him. Another thought on that, if we are going to live forever, then this life is really just a preparation for eternity, or the vestibule of eternity. Yet I daily live as if this life is the entire palace.

Where does God reveal His plan of salvation? Through his word. Part of the reason Bible translation should be one of the top priorities of local churches and myself. People do not get saved without God’s word. “Faith comes by hearing…” That word is then proclaimed by faithful slaves of Jesus.

Who did God make a promise to before the ages began? Well, it was just the trinity, so…Himself. My head hurts thinking about that.
