The DCU Killed Batgirl

For all the criticism the MCU gets, at least they do have a roadmap which they follow, and the bottom line is Kevin Feige genuinely likes comics book movies.

And I think the creative people at Marvel Studios sleep much better at night knowing that Feige is there to protect them from Bob Chapek.

Conversely, the DCU throws whatever fecal matter is available up against the wall and sees what sticks. To put it bluntly, the brainiacs at DC Entertainment might as well be captains of the Titanic, except they steer into the icebergs on purpose.

There’s a new sheriff in town and he’s got an itchy trigger finger.

Maybe it’s me, but a movie studio being prejudiced against “streaming-only films” sounds like a pissed-off curmudgeon stubbornly holding on to his VCR tapes.

What a coincidence that “Batgirl”, a movie starring a woman of color, and directed by Belgian-Moroccan filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallahwill, is gone, huh? Brendan Frasier was collateral damage.

You know what else sucks? Other than when a rogue copy of this movie pops up online eventually, audiences will never know if “Batgirl” is good or not because it won’t even be on HBO Max. Poof. The DCU’s boss wished it into the cornfield.

And everybody who worked on the movie found out about the assasination on Twitter. Those poor souls must feel like they’re trapped inside Jumanji.

This “business as usual” sure sounds personal, don’t it?

These days, the DCU’s baddest supervillian isn’t Darkseid or Lex Luthor. It’s a dead-eyed corporate bean counter in a three thousand dollar suit.
